"For my extended family and friends: We need a slap on the back. Guess what, we're not crazy. And we're certainly not saints. This decision has not been made lightly so please don't assume we have not thought it through. We don't need your approval, but we would like to have it. We'd never tell you how many kids to have, or how you should choose to bring them into your family, so we hope you won't tell us. What we need from you is a big hug and a hearty "Congratulations!"
